A wonderful mix of community partnerships and projects, honouring the past and embracing the future in equal measure. The citizens, businesses, clubs and organisations of Ross have been busy with creative and playful projects like ‘Dial a Local’ Phonebox and Jack the Augmented Reality dog. A tad less glamorous but equally worthy is the Ross News Agency & TakeAway’s commitment to recycling cooking oil. The town is looking beautiful with gorgeous raised garden beds in the main street, vintage lights and restoration projects including the Ross War Memorial and 15 Pounder Field Gun.
An integral part of the vision for Ross is a parkland style Village Green. The project was inspired by an idea proposed by the Local District Committee in 2014. When a humble paddock in an ideal location became available Northern Midlands Council purchased it. In consultation withcommunity, council have developed a proposal which will include a stone amphitheatre, large pavilion, bandstand, water sensitive urban design wetlands, nature based play area, arbour, landscaping, seating and sculptures.
In surrounding areas conservation of the Ross Quarry and the creation of a habitat corridor between the Eastern and Western Tiers are far sighted projects that will benefit generations to come.
